Dog and cat grooming differences
Dogs and cats should not be groomed with exactly the same actions and pace. Even when a product is labelled for both species, the process must still reflect species, individual temperament and coat condition.Behaviour and pressure differ
Cats are often more sensitive to unfamiliar spaces, continuous water noise, restraint and strong airflow. Reduce waiting, noise and repeated handling. Dogs also require adjustments for age, size and prior experience.
Cleansing pace differs
Cat grooming prioritizes speed, low stimulation and complete rinsing. Do not extend massage merely to meet a time target. Dogs may allow more detailed sectional work according to coat volume and soil level.
Drying methods differ
Avoid excessive heat and prolonged airflow on one area. For cats, favour lower-noise methods that allow retreat, while continuously monitoring breathing and stress signals.
